Girl Scout Quilt

I was asked to come up with a project for a local girl scout troop to work on.  After learning that one of the little ladies was battling leukemia, I came up with the idea of the girls working to put together a special quilt that she could use to feel close to her friends, even when she was too sick to join them.

I started with a simple, bold design idea.

For the girls and the troop leader to do their part, I had them color white blocks with fabric markers.  Then, one of the troop mothers offered to help, so I had her embroider the names of the girls over their handwriting.

Ann Marie did a really nice job with the embroidery.

I set all the blocks into a quick-to-put-together top.

I think the colors are nice and cheery.

Then, I decided to do something a bit special for the quilt back, that way the girl scout would feel cheerful no matter what side of the quilt was facing her.

Lots of love, just for her.

I hope she likes it!
